Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) November 01, 2011

The developers of ETAP enterprise software solution for power systems, Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI), announced today the release of ETAP 11.0. The new ETAP 11 release demonstrates ETAP’s ongoing dedication to clients and business partners to continue to provide integrated analytical solutions for the design and operation of power systems for the energy technology industry.

ETAP 11 has been enhanced to include a number of new features, several new analysis modules, new elements and libraries, and significant advancements to existing modules. Many of the new and enhanced functionalities are based on user feedback and were, in fact, beta tested at several existing customer sites prior to its release. The release will automatically be delivered to all ETAP customers with an active maintenance contract.

“ETAP 11 is a milestone for our 25 year history with power system software development,” says Darcy Braun, Manager at ETAP Canada Ltd. “ETAP 11 raises the bar for power system analysis with its new content and major enhancements.”

ETAP 11 provides an integrated and collaborative environment through multi-user data management and project merge capabilities. The data manager feature allows for creation and viewing of electrical data changes between revisions, as well as managing electrical data and engineering properties. Comprehensive renewable energy models for wind turbine generator and photovoltaic array with manufacturers’ specific libraries, combined with full spectrum power system analysis, have been added to this release. ETAP 11 also offers a graphical user-defined dynamic modeling (UDM) module.
www.SolarStirlingPlants.net is a revolutionary invention that uses the sun to create free electricity. And no, we are not talking about the solar panel. This is a different solar energy generator called the Stirling Plant, it is a system that harnesses up to 12x more energy than the expensive solar photovoltaic energy systems. The best part about it, it is much cheaper to build than regular solar panels, and it is easy to build, meaning you do not have to have any technical skills prior to building it. The Solar Stirling Plant harnesses the power of the sun, thus it produces free and clean renewable energy and it works fully off the grid. This is a new method of generating free energy. The concept of the Solar Stirling Plant has been researched for quite a while, and now after the we perfected the design and simplified it to a point that everybody can design it, we decided to make it available to the public. The Solar Stirling Plant operates by using a parabolic reflector dishes to gather all the sun rays which are focused and concentrated into one single spot – wich is in focus of the parabolic dish, where the stirling engine will be placed. When the sun rays are focused into one spot on which the solar stirling plant is located, the temperature difference makes the engine rotate at a fast pace and create massive amounts of energy, unseen by other renewable energy devices such as solar panels or wind turbines. As a source of heat the Solar Stirling Plant uses parabolic …

*Eco-friendly Paint and LED Lights – a Joint Pledge to Save Energy and Reduce Carbon Emissions

Typically memoranda are signed in front of a lit backdrop, but the Green Trade Project Office, MOEA, worked with green product manufacturers to design a different ceremony. VIPs will use eco-friendly paint to sign LED lights and then join a lighting ceremony. Participants include Vice President Vincent Siew, Economics Minister Shih Yen-shiang, Environmental Minister Stephen Shen (to be confirmed), Taiwan External Trade Development Council chairman Wang Chih-kang, Bureau of Foreign Trade (MOEA) director Bill Cho, Water Resources Agency (MOEA) director Yang Wei-fu, Green Trade Project Office (MOEA) chief Chen Tain-jy, Taipei Deputy Mayor Chen Hsiung-wen, Tainan Mayor William Lai, Kaohsiung Economic Development Bureau chief Lan Chien-chang, Expo Union Corporation president Kitty Wong, Advantech Co. president Chaney Ho, popular actress and model Sonia Sui, entertainer Tony Yang, and Golden Bell Award winning director Hsu Jhao-jen. A total of 25 people will “plant” green LED light seeds to represent Taiwan’s efforts to help illuminate the world through energy efficiency. People’s strength will be gathered to build a green future together.

*Aggregating Industrial Innovations to Show the Soft Strength of Green Principles

During the Taiwan International Green Industry Show, a simulated environment featuring food, clothing, housing and transportation is also on display at the Taiwan Green Trade Pavilion. This exhibit gives visitors a chance to experience what it is like to be surrounded by green products. A series of promotional activities and product explanation meetings will also help visitors understand that green products not only benefit the environment but also provide a feeling of safety while stimulating cultural and innovative industries. Another special event to take place on Oct. 29 will involve providing eco-friendly paint and space for youths to make their own creations. A special area with a capacity of 32 people will also be set aside so youths can explain their creations and express their feelings about using eco-friendly paint and environmentally friendly materials. Artists meanwhile will use eco-friendly paint, flowers and environmentally friendly materials to make collages that will be displayed for the first time at the pavilion. Improving green industry entails raising the quality of environmental protection and energy saving measures conducted by local industry while enhancing the competitiveness and development of green products. This will stimulate greater value in the cultural and creative industries. People are welcome to visit the pavilion and create artwork with artists and youths. For more information related to the Taiwan Green Trade Pavilion, please visit http://www.green-trade.org.tw.

Modern global green trade is moving beyond only providing products and services with eco-friendly characteristics to finding ways to bring environmentally friendly meanings and ideas to the trading process. This will benefit both society and the economy. This year the Green Trade Project Office, which was established by the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), is holding the inaugural Taiwan Green Classics Awards. Today (26th) at the zone C assembly stage of Exhibition Hall 1 in the Taipei World Trade Center, Vice President Vincent Siew will present awards to local enterprises that have distinguished themselves for providing excellent eco products and services. Also, organizers have arranged for these enterprises to attend the Eco-Products 2011 exhibition in Japan at the end of December, free of charge. This will provide an excellent opportunity to promote Taiwan’s eco products and increase willingness and demand among potential buyers.

To bring attention to Taiwan’s green product output and encourage enterprises and consumers to place greater value on green trade ideas, the Green Trade Project Office, MOEA, established the Taiwan Green Classics Awards. Award criteria were divided into four areas, including green value of products and services, the green supply chain, innovative technology and green marketing, and corporate responsibility. Nominees that passed qualification then had to go through preliminary and final judging stages. Following this rigorous, two-and-a-half month evaluation period, the list of winners will formally be revealed today (26th). In this year’s awards, 20 top local enterprises will be honored, with 36 items named as a “Green Classics Product.” Each can serve as a model for the eco-friendly efforts of Taiwanese enterprises.

The 2011 1st Taiwan Green Classics Awards Ceremony will take place today (26th) at the zone C assembly stage of Exhibition Hall 1 in the Taipei World Trade Center. The ceremony will honor local enterprises that provide premium green products and thoughtful green services. It will not only strengthen recognition and value that enterprises and consumers place on these trends but also present Taiwanese firms with trade opportunities for their green products and services. This will help promote Taiwan as being a country focused on green trade while showing the value of its green output. All products and services that win a Taiwan Green Classics Award can use the Taiwan Green Classics Symbol conferred by the MOEA for marketing both here and abroad. In addition, they can join international promotional activities for the green trade promotion project. As the world focuses on green issues, these awards give Taiwan a chance to present its green capabilities, enhancing its eco-friendly image while letting it take advantage of opportunities in this rapidly growing field.

Green Classics Award winners will be displayed at the Taipei World Trade Center from Oct. 26 to 29, in zones B and C on the first floor of Exhibition Hall 1. Everyone is welcome to visit.

Mukwonago, WI (PRWEB) October 30, 2011

Three power transmission and wind energy veterans have banded together to create Gearbox Express, an independent business focusing on the repair and remanufacturing of wind turbine gearboxes.

Founding partners Bruce Neumiller, CEO, Brian Hastings, CFO, and Brian Halverson, COO, have a combined 40 years of experience in the gearbox manufacturing and remanufacturing business. The team founded Gearbox Express (GBX) in an effort to better serve Wind, as well as Industrial gearbox segments.

“Our team knows the industry and is dedicated to its success,” said Neumiller. “We see big opportunity participating in the development of the Wind aftermarket as the infrastructure develops. Wind is a relatively young industry – young and growing. Much like how an entire industry was born around the service and maintenance of automobiles, we’re excited to be a part of keeping Megawatt Class wind turbines running efficiently during their lifespan.”

Gearbox Express is specifically focused on down-tower services and will be one of the first companies in the United States to remanufacture wind turbine gearboxes in an exchange inventory model. Its mission, to ensure a quick turn and get the gearbox back uptower, means it will keep a stock of remanufactured gearboxes ready to exchange.

“Our business model is rooted in efficiency, quality, speed and a passionate attitude towards excellent customer service. The sooner our customers have their gearbox uptower and operational, the better it is for their business. We work together to make it happen,” said Neumiller.

He added, “We are building our shop with our business model in our sites; it is designed with high attention to detail to ensure we are creating the right quality environment.”

Gearbox Express recently signed a lease on a 43,164 square-foot industrial building at 909 Perkins Drive, Mukwonago. The formerly distressed building was purchased out of receivership by Sara Investment Real Estate, Madison, WI, and will be leased back to GBX. Build-out of the site is currently underway.

“We selected Mukwonago due to its close proximity to I-43,” continued Neumiller. “And the connection to the established broad labor pool of southeastern Wisconsin and access to the upcoming graduates of our technical schools that are developing wind curriculum is very exciting to us. It’s a perfect time to build a wind-based business in Wisconsin.”

The company received funding from the State Energy Program (SEP) that was created with Recovery Act Funds, an SBA guaranteed loan from Investors Bank and monies from private individual investors as well as Angel investors. It closed its minimum funding this past May.

As it looks toward its opening in 2012, GBX is committed to creating 100 jobs within the state.

“The monetary support Gearbox Express received in the form of SEP funding translates into more clean energy jobs in our state and a much needed service to the existing wind energy sector in our region,” said Paul Jadin, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, which administers the SEP.

Gearbox Express expects to officially open its doors in early 2012. For more information go to http://www.gearboxexpress.com.

RSPB install a Proven Energy 15kW wind turbine

(PRWeb UK) April 30, 2009

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), which recently came out to support wind power development in correctly sited locations, has installed a small scale wind turbine at its Rainham Marshes visitor centre in Purfleet, Essex.

RSPB Rainham Marshes Manager, Nick Bruce-White said “Powering Rainham Marshes with renewable energy not only shows our commitment to tackling climate change, it demonstrates the important role renewables can play in delivering our future energy needs. The RSPB is often most visual when objecting to wind turbine proposals. However, as demonstrated by a recent IEEP study commissioned by the RSPB, wind power does have a valuable role to play in contributing towards the UK’s renewable energy needs, and can do so without harming wildlife. The wind turbine at Rainham Marshes is an excellent example of this.”

Craig Jones, Head of Business Development for Proven Energy said, “We welcome the opportunity to work with all customers and partners to ensure proper siting of our wind turbines. The need to combat climate change is such that it is our duty to ensure that people get the most out of renewable technologies. This installation reaffirms Proven’s capability to work in partnership, collaboration and harmony with local communities and wildlife.”

Alex Murley, Small Systems Manager for the British Wind Energy Association said “Proven Energy form part of a growing UK small scale wind industry which leads the world in low carbon product design. It is gratifying to see the RSPB join the ranks of organisations recognising that in the windiest country in Europe, there are thousands of households and businesses able to generate their own clean, green energy from correctly sited wind energy technologies”.

James Hoare, Managing Director from Ardenham Energy installed the wind turbine. “We were delighted to have been awarded this high profile and important installation project by the RSPB, which confirms the support by the RSPB for responsibly located wind turbines as a method of clean electricity production that will help combat climate change”.

The Proven Energy 15kW wind turbine, together with existing solar technology, should provide enough energy to power the visitor centre, minimising the site’s carbon footprint. The wind turbine is sited on a 5 m/s site and has the potential to produce 21,000kWh per year reducing the RSPB’s CO2 emissions by 9,000kg per annum.

The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten the environment. The RSPB sees climate change as the biggest threat to global wildlife in the 21st century. The impact of global warming threatens many species with extinction and there is a need for renewable energy to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.
